About Milford Sound

To organise your dive trip with us, you will have to stay the night in Milford Sound after the dive trip. The Milford Road ascends to 945m, and to reduce the risk of decompression sickness we strongly recommend that you overnight at sea level before driving to altitude.

Transport options:

During summer Descend Scuba Diving's team is based in Milford Sound.

From Te Anau the two hour drive into Milford takes us past Lake Te Anau, through lush native forest, snow capped mountains, hundreds of waterfalls, a pitch black tunnel through mountainside and we love stopping to talk to our favourite local bird the cheeky "Kea" parrots and to get the always even more wow! photos. The Milford highway is so dramatic that it is called both the most beautiful and highly photographed highway worldwide.

Accommodation in Milford Sound:

The only accommodation in Milford Sound is the Milford Sound lodge. Book early as they book out quickly. Private rooms, backpacker style dorm rooms, tent sites
